Free Webinar · Beneath the Creative Block: What Your Resistance Is Trying to Tell You

It can feel disheartening when you want to create something meaningful and suddenly run straight into a wall. The ideas might be there, yet something inside tenses up, pulls back, or shuts down. Creative resistance can feel confusing, frustrating, and even a little mysterious.

Why does this happen? That’s the topic of my upcoming webinar, Beneath the Creative Block: What Your Resistance Is Trying to Tell You. I’ll be co-teaching with Amanda Goddard, my friend, fellow coach, and Zen Habits team leader.

In this 90-minute session, we’ll talk about:

  • Not ready yet — this is how it can feel when we have a hidden fear of being seen, and then avoid starting, finishing or sharing our work
  • The perfectionism shield — it might feel like we’re trying to get things right before putting something out there, but really we’re trying to keep ourselves safe and shield ourselves from the scary question “what if I put myself out there and it doesn’t matter?”
  • The fear of being inauthentic — we worry about trying to impress others, trying to show them how amazing we are, and it not feeling authentic or real, so we shy away from the most authentic expression of ourselves
  • Who do you think you are — this question comes up for anyone trying to do anything scary, who do you think you are to put yourself out there like this
  • The work your resistance is pointing to — all of these fears and protection patterns point to our deeper work, to confront all of this and create something new for ourselves in the midst of old doubts

Join me and Amanda on Wednesday, December 10 at 10 AM Pacific / 1 PM Eastern for this live session. Bring your questions — we’d love to have you in the conversation.

Hope to see you there!
— Leo

This is the second webinar in a three-part series exploring The Fearless Path, a journey from building strong foundations to creating with purpose and expanding your impact. I’ll also share a bit about our upcoming Fearless Mastery Creators cohort launching in early 2026.

We don’t often realize it, but we’re mostly living out a version of ourselves that we’ve decided to be a while ago. This isn’t a bad version, but it’s often stuck in outdated ideas about who we have to be. There’s also a version of you that already knows how to do the thing you’d like to do. It’s not about knowledge, or even being capable of it — it’s about how you see yourself. Who you’re being when you face the work — and who you need to be, for the purpose in front of you. This month’s...

I’ve been finding that most people work with goals in one of three ways: They avoid setting goals because of fear of failing, feeling inadequate, or feeling forced to stick to them out of obligation; They make goals but force themselves to stick to them, but doing it out of obligation or “have to” instead of feeling inspired; or They set some goals that they’re not really committed to, staying safe and letting themselves off the hook. These are all disempowered ways to work with goals. They...

We are all subject to self-doubt — the voice that tells us to stay safe and not risk looking like an idiot — and I’ve found that it keeps us stuck in our comfort zones. There’s nothing wrong with this … but I’ve found it powerful to shift to a self-trust and belief in yourself that helps you to grow beyond your current space of safety into new discoveries and growth. That said, this shift is not easy on our own — it helps to have support and community, and to bring some awareness to why we...
